Grip shouldn't decide when the set ends.

There's a specific frustration in racking a set your back could have finished, because the bar was sliding out of your fingers. Steno Liquid Chalk solves that one problem and doesn't pretend to solve anything else.

Squeeze, rub, let it dry, lift. Your hands stay dry through the working sets, the bar stops shifting in your grip, and you get to find out what your back can actually do. No chalk bowl, no dust cloud, no white handprints on your kit or the gym's benches.

It's vanilla scented because the sharp alcohol smell most liquid chalk carries is genuinely unpleasant, and there was no good reason to accept it. That's not why you should buy it — the grip is. It's just a detail we'd rather not leave alone.

Why it earns its place in your gym bag

Holds when your hands don't — deadlifts, rows, pull-ups, shrugs, and every set       where your forearms tap out before the muscle you're training does
Dries fast — a few seconds between application and your working set
The mess stays in the bottle — washes off your hands with soap and water
Vanilla, not paint stripper — a normal thing to have on your hands
Recyclable bottle, minimal packaging — a small choice, but it's the standard we want across the range

How to use

  1. Squeeze a small amount into your palm — less than you think.
  2. Rub across both hands, including the base of your fingers where the bar actually sits.
  3. Let it dry for a few seconds, then lift. Reapply between heavy sets if you need to.

Also used for climbing and bouldering, gymnastics, calisthenics, CrossFit, kettlebells and pole fitness.

Why we built it

I started as the skinny, quiet one. The gym changed that — not because of any single thing, but through technique, food, showing up, and a handful of small pieces of kit that removed problems I was tired of working around. Liquid chalk was one of them. The products themselves were a different story: harsh smells, leaking lids, inconsistent bottles. Useful idea, careless execution. So Steno starts here, with the standard everything else has to meet.
